Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the SMS and email service provided by the Summit Academy for notifications about school closures and communication with teachers/staff.

1. Service Description By opting into the SMS and email program, you agree to receive text messages and emails regarding:

School closings due to weather
Early dismissals due to weather
Communication between parents and teachers/staff about homework assignments or other school-related matters, such as chromebook collection.

2. Opt-In and Opt-Out

To receive SMS alerts, you must opt-in by providing your mobile phone number.
You can opt-out of the service at any time by replying “Stop” to any message.
For assistance, reply with “Help”.
For emails, you can respond and request the removal of your email from our Student Information System.

You may choose to stop receiving school-related text messages from Summit Academy at any time. To opt-out, simply reply to any text message you receive from us with the word “STOP” or “UNSUBSCRIBE”. Once we receive your opt-out request, we will promptly remorse your number from our messaging list.

3. Message/Email Frequency Messages may be sent occasionally to as frequently as weekly, based on the school’s needs (e.g., weather-related cancellations, teacher-parent updates).

4. Message and Data Rates Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to or received from us. You are responsible for any charges your mobile carrier may impose.

5. Liability Disclaimer Summit Academy is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Text messages are subject to carrier delays, and we cannot guarantee delivery of every message.

6. Privacy and Data Usage We collect your phone number and use it only for the purpose of sending notifications related to school closings, weather updates, and parent-teacher communication. Your phone number will not be shared with third parties.

Liability and Disclosures

7. Summit Academy is not responsible for any delays, failures in delivery, or any other issues related to the transmission or receipt of text messages. Delivery of text messages is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed by the Summit Academy.

8. By subscribing to our SMS services, you acknowledge and agree that Summit Academy will not be liable for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from or related to the use or failure to receive any text messages, including but not limited to, delays, non-delivery, or technical issues. Your use of our SMS services is at your own risk, and we provide our services on an ‘as-is’ basis without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.

9. You agree to notify Summit Academy immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other security breach. Summit Academy will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account or personal information adequately. By using our services, you acknowledge and accept that no data transmission over the Internet or mobile networks can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and therefore, you use our services at your own risk.
